The eligible applicant can apply online for the recruitment of 65 vacancies in the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology under the Ministry of Earth Science 2024. 01. Project Scientist – III
A. project Scientist – III (Climate variability and prediction)
Essential Qualification: Master’s Degree in meteorology /Oceanography/ Atmospheric Science/ Earth Science/ Climate Science/ Physics / Geophysics / Electronic/mathematics with a minimum 60% marks from any recognized university. OR
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology with minimum 60% marks from any recognized university/ Institute. OR
MS in inter-disciplinary studies with minimum 60% marks from any recognized university / Institute.
Experience: Minimum 07 years of experience in application/system software or AI /ML model development or HPC System / Network administration.
Desirable qualification:
🎯 Doctor degree in science or master’s degree in Engineering or Technology form a recognized university.
🎯 Good knowledge of basic programming, python, and web technologies.
🎯 Handling of large volume of data and conversant with data formats like NetCDF, HDF, GRIB etc.
🎯 Good experience in development of parallel code using high-level languages or in Python.
B. Project Scientist – III (for High-performance Computing Program)
Qualification: Master’s Degree in computer/ computational Science, Computer Application, Mathematics, Physics, and Meteorology or in other subjects with majors in computing mathematics, or application to meteorology/ physics/ chemistry with minimum 60% marks from any recognized university. OR
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology with minimum 60% marks from a recognized university. OR
MS in interdisciplinary studies with minimum 60% marks from any recognized university.
Experience: Minimum 07 years experience in Application/system software or AI/ML model development or HPC system network administration.
C. Project Scientist – III (WIFEX)
Qualification: Doctoral degree in Atmospheric Sciences/meteorology / Physics /Electronics/ Mathematics.
Experience: Minimum 07 years of experience in conducting research and analyzing scientific data, specializing in field experiments and observations. proficient in designing field experiments.
D. Project Scientist – III (MAQWS)
Education Qualification: M.E /M.Tech (Atmospheric Science /Climate Science/Earth Science system and Technology /Environmental Science /any equivalent subject. OR
Master, ‘s degree in physics/mathematics/Atmospheric science/environmental science geophysics with at least 60% marks from a recognized university. OR
Experience: Minimum 07 years of experience in air quality instrumentation and air quality monitoring.
02. Project Scientist – II
A. Project Scientist – II (Paleoclimate reconstruction using proxy records)
Education Qualification: Master’s degree in Physics/Geology /Earth Science/Geophysics/ Analytical Chemistry with at least 60% marks from any recognized university.
Experience: Minimum 03 years of experience after Master’s degree in paleoclimate research.
B. Project Scientists – II (Art’s /Radar Remote sensing)
Education Qualification: Master’s Degree in Science (Physics/ Instrumentation/ Meteorology/ Electronics). Or bachelor’s degree in Engineering and Technology from a recognized university with at least 60% marks.
Experience: Minimum 03 years relevant experience in the field of atmospheric science such as Operation and maintenance or Doppler weather radars or radar wind profilers/processing, analysis, and interpretation of Doppler weather radar or radar wind profiler data sets.
C. Project Scientist – II (For Arts/Atmospheric instrumentation)
Education Qualification: Master’s degree in science (physics/ Instrumentation / Meteorology Electronics/ Radio physics or bachelor’s degree in engineering and Technology from any recognized university with at least 60% marks.
Experience: Operation/maintenance and calibration of atmospheric instrumentation relevant to weather parameters, atmospheric radiation, precipitation, video disdrometer, micro rain radar, rain gauge etc.
D. project Scientist – II ( Atmospheric Instrumentation)
Education Qualification: Master. ‘s degree in Physics/ Electronics/ Instrumentation or bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology ( Electronics/ Instrumentation /EEE/E&T ) from a recognized university with at least 60% marks.
Experience: Minimum 03 years of relevant experience in R&D in industrial and Academic institutions or S&T organizations and scientific activities operation /maintenance and calibration of atmospheric instrumentation relevant to weather parameters, atmospheric and radiation.
E. Project Scientist – II (Deep Ocean mission -IITM)
Education Qualification: Master’s degree in Physics/ Mathematics/meteorology oceanography/ Earth science /Climate Science /Atmospheric Science with minimum 60% marks or Master’s degree in Engineering or Technology.
Experience: Minimum 03 years of proven research experience in Decadal prediction/ Earth system modeling /Climate Science/Atmospheric Sciences with minimum 60% marks or master’s degree in engineering or technology from a recognized university.
F. Project Scientist – II (Model development and data assimilation)
Education Qualification: Doctoral degree in meteorology Oceanography/ Atmospheric Sciences/ Physics/ Geophysics/Electronics/Mathematics or master’s degree in Engineering or technology from a recognized university.
Experience: Minimum 03 years of experience research in atmospheric science/ oceanography /Climate science or allied field.
G. Project Scientist – II (WiFEX)
Education Qualification: M.Tech degree in meteorology or atmospheric science from a recognized university. OR
B.Tech./B.E degree in mechanical or electronics and communication or electronics and Instrumentation or computer application or computer science subjects with at least 60% marks from a recognized university.
Experience: Minimum 03 years experience in research and development in industrial and Academic institutions or science and technology organizations and scientific activities and services in operational weather forecasting.
H. Project Scientist – II (MAQWS)
Education Qualification: M.E/ M.Tech( Atmospheric science /climate science /Earth science system and technology/Environmental Science) OR
Master’s degree in physics/mathematics/atmospheric science / environmental science/ Geophysics with at least 60% marks from any recognized university.
Experience: Minimum 03 years of experience in atmospheric regional /global chemistry transport modeling, satellite data analysis relevant to air quality modeling, experience in handling large atmospheric observations.
I. Project Scientist – II (Model Diagnostic)
Educational Qualification: Doctoral degree in Electronic/physics/ mathematics/meteorology/ oceanography/ atmospheric science or master’s degree in engineering or Technology from a recognized university.
Experience: Minimum 03 years of experience in research in Atmospheric science/oceanography/Climate science.
J. Project Scientist – II (Development of extended range prediction system)
Educational Qualification: Master’s degree in physics/ Mathematics/ Meteorology/ Oceanography / atmospheric science with a minimum of 60% marks or Master’s degree in Engineering or Technology from any recognized university.
Experience: Minimum 03 years of research in atmospheric science /oceanography/ climate science.
K. Project Scientist – II (Inverse modeling of source/sinks of longl-lived greenhouse gases)
Education Qualification: M.sc in physics/ Applied Physics/ Mathematics/ Applied mathematics / Atmospheric Science/ meteorology/ Atmospheric and ocean science/ Earth science/ physical oceanography/ Oceanography with at least 60% marks from any recognized university. OR
M. Tech in Atmospheric Science / Modeling and simulation/meteorology / atmospheric and ocean science/ Earth science from any recognized university.
